Soldiers & followers of the 33rd, 1770–1785

Welcome to The Pattern

HM 33rd Regiment of Foot, 1770–1785

We are a living history group that recreates a hat company of the 33rd Regiment of Foot, along with the civilians who followed it, as it appeared in 1775 on the eve of the American War of Independence. The group was founded by experienced reenactors and has strong links with the Duke of Wellington's Regimental Museum.

Authenticity drives everything we do. Our clothing, equipment and drill are based on careful research, and we aim to equip to the highest standards. At events we live as the soldiers and followers of the 1770s did, from mounting sentries and drilling in the ranks to cooking in the mess and marching across country.

We are a friendly group and welcome all ages and families. Come and meet us at an event and see the 18th century brought to life.

We have members across the UK, and associations with other groups portraying the 33rd in Europe and the USA.

HM 33rd Regiment of Foot, 1770–1785

Step back to the 1770s and bring the redcoats of the 33rd Foot and their followers to life. We portray a hat company of British infantry and the civilians who marched with it, as it appeared in 1775 before it sailed for America.

Authenticity is at the heart of everything we do: our portrayal is built on careful research, and we aim to equip to the highest standards.

All ages and families are welcome, whether you want to stand in the ranks or show camp life. You don't need any experience, just a willingness to learn and enjoy yourself.
